Lawn Fawn Release Week: Blue Skies

tiffssunnyskiesHello Blogosphere!

It’s that time again, time for another Lawn Fawn Release! Today we’re showcasing Blue Skies Stamps and Lawn Cuts Dies!

For my layout, I doodled camo print using a Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Pitt Pen (S) onto some of the elements and then colored them in with Art Grip Colored Pencils. I used Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam Squares Regular & Thin to vary the dimension and depth of the embellishments!

The title uses Quinn’s ABCs stamps and then an hombre coloring technique using Art Grip Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils! The banners and stars were also colored with the same medium.

This layout is EVER so meaningful to me! During this deployment, I was a Point-of-Contact for our Family Readiness Group and there was one mom in particular who was diligent in asking questions and finding out information. We kept in contact since day 1 and occasionally she would email me to say thank you for doing my duties. Unfortunately, she couldn’t be there upon her son’s return, so the kids and I made a welcome home sign for him and showered him with hugs! I’ll be sending this layout to his mom this week 🙂

Well, I hope you’ll check out the Lawn Fawn Blog post….the projects are ABOVE & BEYOND amazing! No joke! And, I hear there’s a giveaway a day 😉

Thanks for stopping by,

Video Tutorial: A Study in Eggs

_MG_7477Hello Blogosphere!!!

Have you ever had an idea that began as an itch? I bought this printer’s tray forever ago…maybe 4 years ago…and it just sat there. It survived 2 cross-country moves and it still sat there. Then, The Stamps of Life released their Egg Dies (set of 12+ dies) that coordinate with Eggs2Hunt and Eggs4Easter, and like magic I GOT THE ITCH!!!!

I stayed up all night debating what “egg types” I would include on my printer’s tray collection. So, we have felt, hipster, TSOL (The Stamps of Life), canvas, chalkboard, woodgrain, hatched, eco-friendly, washi tape, vellum, cork, and sequined.

Which one do you fancy?

Here’s a close-up:

I love the canvas egg!!! In fact, I have a little video tutorial for ya on how to achieve this look:

Off in gnome-gnome land…

As a girl, my mom would always tell me that I was off
in la-la land…lol! She never quite related to a child’s imaginative and wandering mind, having been forced to grow up fast. To this day, she can not relate to my younger brother 8 years younger than me.
I would love to have this hang on the door of my future craft room!
OKAY, back to my faux framed goodness…
The second I ordered these odd-bird planet stamps I knew what I wanted to do with them!
I wanted to create a scene and faux frame it (my fave trick) and wanted it to have a homey shabby chic yet fun feel to it!
My inspiration for the frame is an actual white frame hanging in the family room.
A TON of work went into this, but I had so much fun doing it!

Materials List:
Stamps– odd bird planet, justjohanna, kelly’s gnome home, kelly’s gnome girl with apron, mushroom tree row, CTMH doodle alpha
Paper– The mushroom and large red flower is paper pieced with Basic Grey Infuse, The grass, rolling hills, and gnome girl’s apron is paper pieced with Basic Grey Pheobe, The clear buttons are backed with Basic Grey Pheobe as well. CTMH chocolate cs dry embossed using the faux frame technique and a scor-pal.
Ink– SU basic black, Copic markers, BIC markers
Accesories– The flower is a Basic Grey Rub-on on basic grey dsp, liquid glass (more apparent in the second pic), machine stitching, CTMH clear buttons and hinges, SU linen thread and jumbo eyelets, Gina K. Screw brads, Anna Griffin satin ribbon.
Techniques– Dry embossing, faux frame, paper piecing, alcohol markers, machine stitching, rub-ons
