Bold Butterfly {Design Memory Craft}

Good Morning everyone!

I was actually up and at ’em this morning at 6 am! I hope everyone is having a Happy Hump Day- the week is almost over!

This card is similar to a card I designed for the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft booth at CHA Chicago 2011. I used the new Art Grip Colored Pencils on the Hero Arts Butterfly stamp to show how beautiful and vivid the pigments are! They also blend together flawlessly, so it’s great for people that are anti-odorless minerals and anti-blending stump 😉

I used Hero Arts Antique Engravings and Made with Love. I also used a Memory Box Stamp Leaf Canopy.

Here are the Design Memory Craft products I used:

Art Grip Colored Pencils, Stamper’s Big Brush Markers in Black and Cadmium Yellow

Enjoy your day and thanks for dropping by,

In Sequins

Hello again!

Liam is on Cloud 9! I keep reading everyone’s Birthday Wish comments and he’s thrilled to be receiving so much attention (true Leo, I tell ya)!

Here’s a fun card I’ve been planning every since Katrina, from Pugly Pixel, sent me some real vintage sequins! Now, she usually provides the best of the best in digital blog bling, but she actually sent me the real thing! I WAS THRILLED! Thank you Katrina 🙂

I used some cool woodgrain embossed cardstock from Gmund and added strips of scor-tape where before I added my sequins. This allowed me to see exactly where I would end up laying down the sequins. Then I added some sequins here and there using tiny glue dots! EASY PEASY! The Lawn Fawn sentiment is stamped in Fresh Ink (Impress Rubber Stamps Pigment Ink).

Thanks again for stopping by,

Happy Birthday Liam!

Four years ago, this little guy entered into our lives ever so quietly… I pushed twice and he was out. He didn’t ask for much and he wasn’t even hungry.

Then, we came home from the hospital and everything changed! There was no end to his eating! And as he grew he started getting into everything, which meant we had to childproof the entire house (something we never had to do with CJ, his older brother). Today, this little guy can eat! He can eat just as much as his Dad. Do you all remember the glitter monster mishap?

He loves to build things with tiddlywinks, legos, and lincoln logs as video games bore him. He’s fascinated with anything and everything that flies: helicopters, airplanes, space shuttles, butterflies, you name it! He’s sweet and cuddly.

He’s our Liam 🙂

Happy Birthday not-so-much-a Baby Boy!

Christmas in July {Hero Arts}

Hello Everyone!

Thanks for all your sweet comments on my last post featuring the watercoloring technique! A video is most definitely in the works today 🙂

For today’s card, I used some stamps I received in some little goodie bags from the Hero Arts booth at CHA Chicago 2011! I just love that adorable tree and that oh-so-me sentiment! This card is a little techniquey for me, but I “kissed” the solid tree stamp with the envelope pattern background stamp (LOVE that stamp). For my custom background “frame”, I stamped the sentiment in various colors of inks and then inked up one of my acrylic block with a purple ink, misted it with a water/shimmerz mixture, and then stamped it off directly on top of the sentiment. I love the results!

I saw these colors all over the CHA floor for winter and Christmas. Purple and plum are HOT!

In other news, I started Ali Edwards’s, A Week in the Life. Because it’s Monday, I felt a getting out of bed shot was necessary 😉 My nausea has been bad ever since I got back from Chicago, but my guess is that it’s just jet lag. Cross your fingers it’ll pass soon!

Here are some shots from today. I’ll be using my hipstamatic app on my iPhone 4 for all the pictures as it’s the most handy!

Getting out of bed is tough...

2nd breakfast...for the baby!

CJ and Liam dressed themselves...

I swear by the chore charts! Stars are everything to these guys!

Watercolor fun with Quinn’s ABCs!

Hello everyone!

I had the most splendid relaxing easy-going birthday ever! Thank you for all those birthday wishes!

For my card, I executed an idea that I’ve been mulling around in my brain for 2 months! Are any of you Studio Calico subscribers? Well, in the Lawn Party Kit, a cool overlapping number stamp was included! I knew instantly that I wanted to try making my own overlapping alphabet stamp with Lawn Fawn’s Quinn’s ABCs! So, here are the results! To finish it off, I colored the outside of the letters with a gradient of Faber-Castell’s Art Grip Aquarelle pencils (watercolor pencils) and then took a fine wet paint brush to the pigments to spread the color.

Here are the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Products I used:

Altogether, I’m really happy with the results!

Thanks for dropping by,

I’m on the iPhone App!

Hooray!

If you haven’t downloaded the app yet, it’s so much fun. You get new stampy content every day and can bookmark/save your favorites for future reference. Each project comes with instructions and a product list!

Have a great day and thanks for all the Birthday wishes 🙂

To my birthday buddy…

Good day everyone!

Today is a special day, today happens to be my 28th birthday and I share this special day with my uncle who is 15 years older (I believe)!

I love my uncle… He is wise, patient, thoughtful, outgoing, loving, and altogether inspirational. I made this card for him using the American Crafts Campy Trails papers and embellishments because he thrives in the great outdoors. Every time I talk to him or read his facebook page, he’s at the beach, on a road trip, camping, skiing, hiking, mountain biking, etc. I’ve also found that he seems to be at a good place in his life, so I thought “Happy Camper” was fitting!

Anyways, I’m off to celebrate the day just being me: a mom, wife, sister, daughter, grand-daughter, aspiring artist, preggo.

Art Grip Colored Pencils Video Tutorial: Design Memory Craft

Here’s a long-ish video about the latest product addition to the Design Memory Craft product line, the Art Grip Colored Pencils! You’ll see these color as smooth as butter and only a couple colors are needed to create smooth blending, so no blending stump or odorless minerals needed! I am also using my cutie patootie sailboat stamp from Memory Box 🙂

Thanks for dropping by,

my CHA Chicago 2011…

Good Morning Everyone!

I am back safe and sound from my trip in Chicago. Here’s a video I put together of my favorites from the CHA Chicago 2011 Show. Between doing make it and take its with Design Memory Craft and getting lots of rest, I was able to make some quick pit stops to see some goodies. Truth be told, I was feeling pretty anti-social this CHA as I was very tired. It was fun nonetheless and working with Faber-Castell is such a dream job!

I returned home to a counter FULL of drawings and handmade crafts from the kids! Here are some of my favorites.

If you aren’t the video watching type, you can go over to my CHA Chicago tab and see all the individual pictures. Sorry for the iPhone 4 quality. I don’t own a nice camera bag that would be good for travel.

Thanks for dropping by,

CHA Chicago 2011

Hello All!

I am on my way back home from CHA Chicago- what a whirlwind! I was demoing for Faber-Castell’s Design Memory Craft line, so I had very little time and energy to see and do it all. I WAS able to snap some quick pics of my fave releases from the show! I’ll be posting a video later with the full shi-bang, but here’s a little:
