The Stamp of Life: Lemonade2Drink

_MG_8295

Good Morning & Happy Monday!

I hope everyone’s weekends were spectacular! I came down with some sort of sinus infection Saturday and started running a fever that night and continued throughout the entire weekend- BOO!

During that time, The Stamp of Life released another FUN club set, Lemonade2Drink!

I kept my stamping simple for this summer set 🙂

Here’s another:

And, since I had Girls’ Bunco Night on the brain all last week…

Lawn Fawn Release Week: Blue Skies

tiffssunnyskiesHello Blogosphere!

It’s that time again, time for another Lawn Fawn Release! Today we’re showcasing Blue Skies Stamps and Lawn Cuts Dies!

For my layout, I doodled camo print using a Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Pitt Pen (S) onto some of the elements and then colored them in with Art Grip Colored Pencils. I used Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam Squares Regular & Thin to vary the dimension and depth of the embellishments!

The title uses Quinn’s ABCs stamps and then an hombre coloring technique using Art Grip Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils! The banners and stars were also colored with the same medium.

This layout is EVER so meaningful to me! During this deployment, I was a Point-of-Contact for our Family Readiness Group and there was one mom in particular who was diligent in asking questions and finding out information. We kept in contact since day 1 and occasionally she would email me to say thank you for doing my duties. Unfortunately, she couldn’t be there upon her son’s return, so the kids and I made a welcome home sign for him and showered him with hugs! I’ll be sending this layout to his mom this week 🙂

Well, I hope you’ll check out the Lawn Fawn Blog post….the projects are ABOVE & BEYOND amazing! No joke! And, I hear there’s a giveaway a day 😉

Let’s be real…

_MG_8030Now, for your serious broadcast-

Everywhere I turn, I’m drawn to blog posts by other bloggers titled Instagram’s Envy Effect, Pressures of Social Media, and the like. There is a strange phenomenon happening. We are not only envious of the stars who show up on the glossy pages of the fashion magazines or the super models in the latest perfume ad, but we’re beginning to harbor strong resentment for our peers via social media outlets like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, etc.

Personally, I’ve grown jealous of friends who post pictures of their bikini ready bodies, their genius kids, and perfectly styled homes. Some people make doing an updo look as easy as 1,2, 3, pin. Then there are the wives posting about the awesomeness that is their cooking, cleaning, organized, considerate, hands-on, family man of a husband. We don’t see the full story that is their life because we’re only privy to the small blips they choose to share with us.

Just like I’ve experienced jealousy through the looking glass, I know of a couple friends who have unfollowed me or hidden my feeds from their FB because of the very same feelings of resentment.

So, I’m going to do a bit of sharing today. This may be TMI for most, but I want to keep it real.

Let’s be real.

At my heaviest non-pregnant self, I weighed a shocking 165 lbs.

My husband is rarely home during the week. Right now, he’s deployed, so he’s never home.

My 3 kids sometimes drive me crazy & we go to bed in a tizzy. No stories read, no tucking in, no kisses or hugs, just plain exhaustion.

I have terrible self-confidence in my appearance.

My marriage is far less than perfect. We have weeks where we constantly bicker. We’ve used the D word in our most heated moments.

As a designer, I’ve let down manufacturers and friends more times than I’d like to admit.

There was a whole year during my pregnancy and a little after, I couldn’t bring myself to create anything of worth.

I sometimes make meals my family would rather leave for the dog than eat a few bites of.

At my darkest hour, I don’t log-in to Facebook or any social media for fear of overly happy accomplished friends.

I hide friends from my FB wall who are constant braggers or downers. I like to see a human-like balance!

I rarely “get dressed”. I’m always in gym clothes.

I haven’t had a haircut since January.

I have a good life, my husband works hard for what we have, I am proud of my accomplishments, proud of my children, but I, like you, have my every day struggles.  I think the more self-confidence we have, the less we’ll allow ourselves to feel lesser than or not equal to our peers we connect with through social media.

Next time you see your friend’s rock hard abs or her perfect children, just remember that she has her own personal struggles she faces every day. Just be happy. Happy for your friend, thankful for your life- successes and failures alike.

ALWAYS KEEP IT REAL.

The Stamps of Life: Mini Tags Balloons

minitags1Hello Blogosphere!

Hope your Monday wasn’t so manic 😉 My Monday went well! There was a sky full of sunshine, my kids cooperated for the most part, I received an award (army spouse stuff), Zumba was easy breezy compared to the last few days, and the house managed to stay clean!

Here’s a card I made using The Stamps of Life MiniTags2Cut Sizzix dies! The Dies come with Stamps as well, but I love seeing how far I can stretch a product, so I flipped my mini tags on their heads and turned them into birthday balloons!

The background stamp is the Birthday4Subways background stamp and the present is a die-cut from the Sizzix Framelits & Stamps Set, Penguin & Candy Cane! You should definitely check out the gallery for more inspiration!

Live Colorfully

tsolapril5Hello again!

No rants, promise! Just a fun card for the fun of it all 🙂

This card features a new alphabet from The Stamps of Life, Alpha4Fayleen. I had a lot of fun using my gelatos to create a fun background and then used my Memento Dew Drops to get the spectrum stamping for the letters.

This was a VERY messy card to create! After I created the background, I added some modeling paste through a Studio Calico Stencil! I looooooove modeling paste. It’s so much fun to play with and adds so much dimension and texture.

Kitschy Easter

bubblegum4metiff5It’s almost that time….

Time for Easter Sunday! How will you celebrate?

Here’s a Kitschy Vintage-Inspired card I made using the new gum4backgrounds stamp from The Stamps of Life! I used it on the Sizzix Egg Framelits Dies and paired it with images from moregum4me, bubblegum4me, and eggs4easter.

I was inspired by a friends’ vintage pyrex collection, similar to this one here:

Rainbow Card with Vellum

moregum4me4-tiffHello Everyone!

How was your Monday? Mine passed smoothly for once! I didn’t get to finishing the publication or design work I had on my desk, but there’s always today!

Here’s a fun card using the mini gumball machine & a punny sentiment front The Stamps of Life’s bubblegum4me March Club set! I just stamped the mini gumball machine in rainbow colors on the background and then to make the sentiment stand out, I stamped it on vellum and adhered the vellum with washi tape to the card!

I used The Stamps of Life inks by Colorbox to stamp (LOVE these inkpads)! You should definitely check out the gallery for more inspiration!

Bubblegum Machine Shaker Card

moregum4me3-tiffHappy Monday Blogosphere!

How were your weekends? I tried a 3-day juice fast and it was no picnic.

Here’s a fun card using my favorite sentiment from The Stamps of Life’s bubblegum4me March Club set! I turned the little gumball machine into a shaker card with some extra plastic packaging I had laying around, added some sequins, and viola!

I used The Stamps of Life inks by Colorbox to stamp (LOVE these inkpads)! You should definitely check out the gallery for more inspiration!
